This exhibition was a long-awaited collaboration with my good friend Jason Dunbar. Some time ago, we bonded over drinks at a craft beer bar and ironically didn’t find out until much later into our friendship that we are both into street photography. We didn’t have a concept for the exhibition, instead we gathered the photos that we were interested in exhibiting, critiques eachother a bit, and discussed what photos went together and why. The common theme we found is that most of the photos could be placed into two boxes: people captured during moments when they were deeply engaged with their environment (associate), or rather choosing not to (disassociate). We loved the theme and worked through a few iterations of the photo selection until we had the final product. Associate x Disassociate is comprised of 32 photos, 16 of my photos and 16 of Jason’s.
We hope you enjoy the images and that they evoke some of your thoughts. Today, will you choose to associate or dissociate?
